There is a new scam going around, targeting any sellers, even coding service providers.

Scam works by first making a real offer, for example asking for a price on a coding project, agreeing do it. Secondly, you will be told you get 50% upfront, if you try to tell them that you want to use a middleman, they will tell you that they need it fast and they will pay other 50% once you send a video that it is done. 
Seems legit enough, so I thought. They asked for my crypto address, I provided them it. Then they said that "I need to withdraw from cb, can only withdraw to accs I own"  "can you make a fresh wallet and give me the phrase". After I told them no, they blocked me and deleted the chat.



Now I don't exactly know what their goal is. Possibly they will send the money to that wallet but then send it back to their own wallet, after which they'll make a scam report and ask for the money back? Not sure. 

But it is VERY fishy that: 1. They do not want to use a middleman, as a buyer. 2. They want you to create a wallet and give them the phrase. 3. They delete chat and block you if you do not agree.

Stay safe out there, don't fall for scams. Use common sense, if it seems fishy, use a middleman, if they refuse, their up to no good. 


TLDR: No middleman wanted, they want a new wallet and its seed phrase to send the money to. Possibly to send it back to themselves and make a scam report.

The scammer pretends to be a buyer and offers a legit-sounding job (like coding). They agree to pay 50% upfront and 50% after a video or proof of completion. But then they say they can “only withdraw to wallets they own” (blaming Coinbase or another platform), and ask you to create a fresh wallet and give them the seed phrase. Once they have the seed, they control the wallet 100%. Their real plan? They send crypto (possibly dirty or stolen funds) to the wallet, wait for you to acknowledge receiving it, then drain it themselves using the phrase. After that, they file a fake scam report (e.g., with Coinbase, Binance, or even law enforcement) saying you scammed them or received stolen crypto. Since the wallet is in your name/IP/device and you gave the address, you’re left holding the bag. This makes you look like the scammer or money launderer, and they vanish clean. That’s why they delete chats and block instantly if you don’t fall for it — it only works if you give them that phrase. It's not just a crypto theft — it’s a reputation wipeout and legal trap.
Bottom line: It’s a wallet-jacking scam wrapped inside a crypto laundering setup — and you’re the scapegoat.
